Coxsackievirus infections generally last a few days to about a week. Fever caused by the virus typically lasts around 2 to 3 days, while hand, foot, and mouth disease (a common illness caused by coxsackievirus) usually lasts 2 to 3 days but can last as long as 7 days. Mouth sores from the virus can last about 7 days, and rashes on hands and feet may last up to 10 days. More serious infections like viral meningitis can take 3 to 7 days to clear up.
Most cases of coxsackievirus infections in children are mild and resolve without treatment within a few days. In cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease caused by coxsackievirus, recovery usually occurs within 7 to 10 days.
