- Belmont Stakes: 1 1/2 miles (1.5 miles), the longest of the three
These races are run over a period of about five weeks in the spring, with the Kentucky Derby held first, followed by the Preakness Stakes two weeks later, and the Belmont Stakes three weeks after the Preakness
