To play Solitaire (specifically the classic Klondike version), follow these steps:

Setup

  • Use a standard 52-card deck, removing jokers.
  • Deal seven piles (called the tableau) from left to right:
    • The first pile has 1 card face up.
    • The second pile has 1 card face up on top of 1 card face down.
    • The third pile has 1 card face up on top of 2 cards face down.
    • Continue this pattern until the seventh pile has 1 card face up on top of 6 cards face down.
  • The remaining cards form the stock pile, placed face down.
  • Leave space for four foundation piles (initially empty), where you will build sequences by suit from Ace to King

Objective

  • Move all cards to the four foundation piles, each built up by suit from Ace through King

How to Play

  • You can move cards around the tableau piles by placing cards in descending order and alternating colors (e.g., a red 8 can be placed on a black 9).
  • Only a King (or a pile starting with a King) can be moved to an empty tableau pile.
  • Turn over face-down cards in the tableau as you uncover them.
  • Draw cards from the stock pile three at a time onto a waste pile; you may play the top card of the waste pile onto the tableau or foundation.
  • When the stock pile is exhausted, turn over the waste pile to form a new stock pile and continue drawing.
  • Move cards to the foundation piles whenever possible, starting with Aces and building up in suit and ascending order.
  • You can move sequences of cards in order and alternating colors together between tableau piles

Winning

  • The game is won when all cards are moved to the foundation piles in the correct order from Ace to King for each suit

This is the basic gameplay of Klondike Solitaire, the most common version of the game. The key is to strategically uncover face-down cards and build the foundation piles while managing the tableau and stock pile efficiently
