Minesweeper is a single-player game where mines are hidden in a grid of squares
. The objective of the game is to uncover all the safe squares without detonating any mines
. Here's how to play:
- The number on a cell indicates how many mines are adjacent to it
- Left-click to open a square and right-click to flag a potential mine
- If you click on a mine, you lose the game
- In some versions of the game, the first click is guaranteed to be safe
Gameplay
- Starting the Game Begin by clicking a random square on the grid to start the game
. Some versions guarantee the first click will be safe
- Identifying Mines Numbers on the opened squares indicate the number of adjacent mines
. Use these numbers to deduce the location of mines. For example, if a square with the number "1" has only one covered square next to it, that covered square must be a mine
- Flagging Mines Right-click on a square to place a flag where you suspect a mine is located
. This helps you avoid clicking on it later.
- Clearing Safe Squares Once you've flagged all the surrounding mines of a numbered square, you can confidently click the remaining covered squares to reveal they are safe
- Chording If you have correctly flagged all the mines touching a number, simultaneously pressing both mouse buttons on that number will open all the remaining adjacent squares
- Continuing the Game Continue to use logic and deduction to clear squares and flag mines until you have exposed all safe squares
Tips and Strategies
- When a number touches the same number of squares, those squares must be mines
- In situations where you need to guess, try to open a block that is not common to multiple numbers
- Do not use the question mark, as it is a waste of time
- Start from the middle for a higher chance to get unstuck
