- Place a large mug on the drip tray.
- Press the Brew button to start the descaling process. The machine will dispense the descaling solution through the system.
- Discard the hot liquid into the sink. Repeat the brew cycle until the "Add Water" light comes on, signaling the solution is used up
- Let the Machine Sit
- Some instructions recommend letting the machine stand for about 30 minutes to allow the solution to break down mineral buildup
- Rinse the Machine
- Remove and thoroughly rinse the water reservoir.
- Fill the reservoir with fresh water.
- Run multiple brew cycles (usually 2-3 or more) with just water to flush out any remaining descaling solution
- Exit Descale Mode
- After rinsing, the descale light should turn off, indicating the process is complete.
- If your model requires it, press the appropriate buttons to exit descale mode or simply power the machine on/off
- Replace Water Filter
- If your Keurig has a water filter, replace it after descaling for optimal performance
Additional Tips:
- Do not use distilled water for descaling; use regular tap water mixed with descaling solution or vinegar.
- Descale every 3 to 6 months depending on usage and water hardness to maintain performance and taste
- Always follow your specific Keurig model’s manual for precise instructions as button combinations and descale modes may vary
