To reset your AirPods, follow these steps:
- Place both AirPods in the charging case and keep the lid open.
- On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth, find your AirPods in the device list, tap the "i" icon next to them, then tap Forget This Device and confirm. This unpairs your AirPods from your device.
- With the AirPods still in the case and the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds.
- Watch the status light on the case: it will flash amber/orange a few times, then turn white. This indicates the AirPods have been fully reset to factory settings.
- Release the button. Your AirPods are now reset and ready to be paired again.
- To reconnect, open the case near your device and follow the on-screen pairing instructions
This process works for AirPods (1st generation and later), AirPods Pro, and AirPods 4. For AirPods Max, a different reset method involving holding the digital crown and noise control button applies
