Nick Mavar, known for his role as a deckhand on the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch," died on June 13, 2024, at the age of 59. He suffered a heart attack while on a ladder at a boatyard in Naknek, Alaska. After the heart attack, he fell onto a dry dock and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The cause of death was natural causes related to the heart attack. Before his death, Nick had left the show in 2020 after his appendix ruptured during filming, which revealed a cancerous tumor. He had also sued the owners of the F/V Northwestern over medical care issues during the pandemic.
