For reporting purposes, Georgia Milestones scores are grouped into four performance levels
:
- Beginning Learner Students in this category do not yet demonstrate proficiency and require substantial academic support to succeed in the next grade level or course and are not currently on track for college and career readiness
- Developing Learner These students show partial proficiency and need additional support to meet grade-level expectations and to ensure long-term academic success
- Proficient Learner Proficient Learners have demonstrated grade-level mastery and are prepared for the next academic step and are considered on track for college and career readiness
- Distinguished Learner This group exceeds grade-level expectations, demonstrating advanced mastery and are well ahead in preparation for college and career
These performance levels offer a clear picture of a student’s command of the course content, helping educators and parents identify areas where students may need extra help or more challenging material
. The Georgia Milestones Assessment System is a comprehensive assessment program spanning grades 3 through high school and measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards
