The desk carved from the British ship HMS Resolute, known as the "Resolute desk," has been used by nearly every U.S. president since 1880. This double pedestal partners' desk was made from the oak timbers of the HMS Resolute and was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880.
