Fani Willis is an American attorney serving as the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, since 2021. She is the first woman to hold this office in Fulton County, which includes most of Atlanta. Willis has gained prominence for investigating the 2020 presidential election in Georgia, leading to indictments against Donald Trump and alleged co-conspirators on charges related to election interference. She has also prosecuted high-profile cases involving rapper Young Thug and others on racketeering and gang-related charges. However, Willis was permanently removed from prosecuting Trump's election interference case in 2025 due to an "appearance of impropriety" from her romantic relationship with a lead prosecutor on the case. Willis is known as a dedicated and skilled prosecutor with a background that includes a law degree from Emory University and more than 100 jury trials led during her career.
