Golden pothos is toxic to cats. It contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that cause irritation and burning sensations in a cat's mouth, tongue, lips, and throat if ingested. Symptoms of poisoning include drooling, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, pawing at the mouth, loss of appetite, and lethargy. In severe cases, especially in cats with kidney problems or other health issues, ingestion can lead to kidney failure or even be fatal. Immediate veterinary care is recommended if poisoning is suspected.
