Accor Stadium, also known non-commercially as Stadium Australia, is a large multi-purpose stadium with an approximate capacity of 82,000 seats. It is located at Sydney Olympic Park in the western part of Sydney, Australia. Originally built to be the centerpiece for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, it was the largest Olympic stadium ever built with a capacity of about 110,000 at the time. Since then, it has been reconfigured and renamed through various naming rights agreements, with Accor Stadium being its current commercial name since November 2021. The stadium hosts a wide range of sporting events—including rugby league, rugby union, football (soccer), Australian Football League (AFL), and cricket—as well as major concerts and entertainment events. It is home to NRL clubs Canterbury Bulldogs and South Sydney Rabbitohs and annually hosts the NRL Grand Final and State of Origin series among other significant games. It is also notable for environmental design features like energy-efficient lighting and natural lighting to reduce conventional power use. The stadium has undergone reconfigurations to allow it to support multiple sports more effectively, including converting the field shape for AFL and installing major video screens. It remains a iconic venue in Australia with a rich legacy of sporting and cultural events since its opening in 1999.
